laxapana Falls

Lakshapana Falls, the 8th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and the 625th highest waterfall in the world, is 126 meters (413 feet) high. It is located in a village called Kiriwan Eliya in the Maskeliya area of the Nuwara Eliya District, around 16 kilometers (9.9 miles) from Maskeliya town on the Maskeliya-Norton Bridge route. Maskeliya oya creates it close to where Kehelgamu oya and Maskeliya oya meet to make the Kelani River. The twin power plants, old Laxapana and new Laxapana, which each produce 50 and 100 units of power, are named after the falls.
